Service: Public Transportation in Jefferson City
Hours: JEFFTRAN operates year round, Monday through Friday 6:45 A.M. to 5:30 P.M., except on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Truman’s Birthday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, and Christmas Day. During extreme weather conditions (heavy ice or snow), JEFFTRAN buses will operate on the Weather Emergency Flex Schedule. JEFFTRAN WILL NOT cancel service unless major streets are deemed impassable. If service is running on the Weather Emergency Flex Schedule, or canceled, it will be announced through the local media (radio stations: KATI, KFAL, KJLU, KJMO, KMFC, KPLA, KTXY, and KWOS or television stations: JCTV, KMIZ, KNLJ, KOMU and KRCG) and through JEFFTRAN’s Information Email Group. Who can ride: General Public; City of Jefferson’s Transit Division (otherwise known as JEFFTRAN) has Fixed Routes in Jefferson City.
Wheelchair Accessible: Handi-Wheels is a curb-to-curb, origin to destination paratransit transportation service. The service provides transportation to individuals who, because of disability, cannot travel to or from
a ﬁxed route bus stop. Handi-Wheels service is dedicated to safely transporting disabled and special needs passengers. ADA approved Handi-Wheels vans feature raised roofs, wheelchair lifts and
restraint systems, as well as comfortable ambulatory seating for attendants and companions. The cost of JEFFTRAN’s paratransit service is $2.00 for each ride. A Handi-Wheels 10 Ride Pass is
also available for $20.00. When needed, drivers aid passengers to board (including securing wheel chairs) as well as passengers when getting off. If a passenger requires additional help, i.e., getting into a business or office, Handi-Wheels will provide transportation for an attendant
(provided by the passenger) at no additional charge.
